There was laughter and smiles. There were hugs and tears. But most importantly there was friendship. With a single group hug you could feel the emotion radiating from them. Then Abby said “this may be the last time in a long time that we are all together”. It was impossible to keep composure after that sentence.
Abby is leaving to go overseas to do missionary work. It has been a long time goal of hers and I am SO excited to watch her pursue it! I remember earlier this year when she left for her interview she was nervous, but we all believed in her and never doubted her abilities. When I heard the news that Abby had been accepted into this program, jumping for joy was the literal definition of my reaction. I cannot wait to hear about all your experience as you grow in your faith and as a teacher.
When Abby asked me to do a session for her I immediately said yes. Then she told me it would be with her best friends, I was even more excited. I know how wonderful Abby is, so I knew her friends would be as well. I first met Abby on my campus visit to Friends University, when I came to Friends we became teammates. By the end of the school year we became more than teammates, we became family.
